We ensure that your wedding day is exactly as you envision it. Don’t just take our word for it, you can read all about Liz & Stephen Cathcart’s June wedding at The Blackburn Inn & Conference Center. According to their interview with Virginia Living, they were roommates before they dated, and were dog-parents and co-homeowners before they were engaged. With so much history together, they came to us already in sync and we were honored to host their shared vision!
Liz and Stephen had a beautiful wedding, filled with a variety of florals in the decor as well as the bridesmaid dresses. They utilized our beautiful front lawns in between our two historic fountains as their ceremony location, but held a private vow ceremony in front of the Byrd Building. In Virginia Living, the couple says the private vows were one of, if not THE best part of their wedding.

After the ceremony, the newlywed Cathcart’s hosted a cocktail hour in The Gallery 1828. They worked with our devoted Events Team to choose a custom menu for dinner in The Great Hall. The couple opted to sit with their family and amongst their 99 guests instead of sitting at a head table. At The Blackburn, we acknowledge that there are must-have details for your day. Liz & Stephen brought in their own chairs and chargers to help create the vision they were looking for!

After a delicious plated dinner of salmon and short ribs with brussel sprouts, roasted potatoes, and cheesecake for dessert, it was time to start their dance party! Liz & Stephen told Virginia Living that they and their guests love to dance, so having a DJ at their wedding was important to them! They needed a wide variety of music from start to finish. Initially, Liz & Stephen had planned to head back to the hotel after dinner to take more photos at sunset, and Liz had an outfit change planned. The couple were having so much fun at their reception in The Great Hall that they instead chose to take their golden hour photos right from the Gallery 1828 patio, no outfit change required!
