About The Blackburn Inn and Conference Center

Overview
Constructed in 1828, The Blackburn Inn and Conference Center offers the perfect balance between classic Virginia and modern elegance. The tranquil, historic hotel is just moments from the excitement of downtown Staunton and the surrounding Shenandoah Valley. The property sits on a sprawling 80 acres of historical grounds and was designed by master architect, Thomas Blackburn. Characterized by its old- time charm, The Blackburn promises a distinct blend of timeless glamour, modern finishes, artful design, and superior hospitality.

Established
The Blackburn Inn opened in 2018 as a historic 49-room boutique hotel.

Location
Centrally located in the heart of Staunton, Virginia, The Blackburn is just blocks away from the American Shakespeare Center, Woodrow Wilson’s Presidential Library, and the city’s shopping and entertainment hub along with some of the best restaurants in the Shenandoah Valley. The Blackburn is less than 3 hours from Washington, D.C., and under 2 hours from Richmond, Virginia, making it a city person’s dream getaway in the mountains.

Accommodations
The Blackburn offers 49 beautifully designed guestrooms, including a Deluxe Queen, Deluxe Queen with Sleep Sofa, Deluxe Queen with Soaking Tub, and Cozy Queen. The rooms blend modern and historic expressions with elegant touches noted throughout the design, such as barn-style doors, original pine floors, oversized bathrooms, and intricate architectural features. All the rooms provide a wealth of well-appointed amenities that offer guests a comfortable and timeless experience while ensuring that they still enjoy access to modern conveniences.

The Blackburn’s functional and full-service hotel amenities, combined with exceptional hospitality, create a home away from home where guests can truly unwind.

The Spa at The Blackburn – a 2,500 square foot spa complete with four treatment rooms and a nail salon. In a calming oasis setting, The Spa offers facials, reflexology, massages and nail service.

In-room luxuries include plush bath towels, luxury bed linens, large-screen televisions, 12-foot ceilings, rainfall showers, complimentary toiletries, and a Keurig and a refrigerator.

Guests will find a balance of thoughtful curated indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the rest of the hotel, including Second Draft Bar & Bistro, the hotel’s onsite dining and patio.

Guests will also enjoy walking the beautiful front lawn, lounging on the cigar patio, shopping in the gift shop, an intimate art gallery, and access to the fitness center (when allowed per Commonwealth of Virginia).

Conference Center
Our renovated Conference Center offers groups 6,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Composed of The Great Hall at 3,900 square feet, and Gallery 1828 at 2,100 square feet, a built-in bar, and a full catering kitchen, The Blackburn is perfectly positioned to host groups from 20 to 200, including social distancing measures.

Whether it is an intimate wedding or a business event for 200, each special program deserves a special backdrop, and The Blackburn offers exactly that with our 80-acres of picturesque Virginia landscape. Our full-service catering kitchen services all the onsite venues, including our outdoor wedding and event venues, as well as our Conference Center and Penthouse.
