Drive Along Skyline Drive

Skyline Drive runs 105 miles north and south along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park and is the only public road through the park. It takes about three hours to drive the entire length, or you can pick your favorite portions to explore. No matter the time of the year, Skyline Drive boasts views of some of the most gorgeous scenery in the Shenandoah Valley.

As you cruise along the scenic road, you’ll have 70 overlooks to choose from to stop and gaze at towering mountains and deep, breathtaking valleys. Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, such as deer, black bears, and wild turkeys.

Note: Inclement weather can cause closures of Skyline Drive at any time. Call the Park’s recorded information line: (540) 999-3500 for the most current status.

Enjoy Wine Tasting

The Shenandoah Valley in Virginia contains agriculturally rich fields, farms, and vineyards. This means that Staunton and the surrounding area are home to a collection of top-notch tasting rooms. During your winter escape getaway, head to a winery sip on some delectable local wines.
